While options for betting college basketball odds are limited in Canadian universities, there are plenty of wagering options for NCAA schools. Every sportsbook offers NCAAB odds on the vast majority of games played every day. From standard point spreads to totals to props to odds to win March Madness.
So you can study the Duke vs North Carolina matchup, study the NCAAB lines moves and decide where the best betting value is found. If Duke is listed at -5.5, it means they are favored by 5.5 points. In that case, they need to beat UNC by six points or more in order to cover the college basketball point spread. If they win by four points, they win the game, but you lose your bet.
Over under lines are also very popular forms of college basketball odds. Study the offensive and defensive trends of each team, see what total the sportsbooks have chosen and then decide if you find an edge to bet under or over the total. For example, if both UConn and Pitt average 80 points per game, yet the total is listed at 150 points, you might have a good OVER wager. If each team comes close to its season average, the total score will be closer to 160 points.
Game odds are not the only way to bet on basketball. Futures on who will win the Big East, which school will win March Madness and which player will be named the Naismith Award win for collegiate player of the year are other examples. And many sportsbooks offer basketball prop odds where you can bet on whether Player X will score more points in the game than Player Y. All in all, plenty of ways to look at basketball odds and plenty of ways to win!
