Olympic Basketball Betting Odds

The Olympic Men's Basketball tournament tipped off earlier this week and judging by their star-studded roster and their opening rout of France it could be another easy walk to the gold for Team USA.

Before the Olympics began the American's were already huge favorites to claim the gold medal at Bodog.ca at 1/8. After beginning the Olympic tournament by throttling France 98-71 the oddsmakers have boosted the Americans even higher on the futures list. Check in at Bodog.ca right now and you'll find Team USA listed as a 1/12 favorite.

With a roster that includes NBA superstars LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul realistically no other team should come close to matching the Americans. In their opener against France Durant took command scoring a team-high 22 points in the blowout.

Next on the docket for Team USA is a Tuesday matchup with Tunisia which should be a complete walk in the park. The rest of the American's opening round schedule includes games against Nigeria, Lithuania and Argentina. The only team to keep an eye on there is Argentina, who pulled off a shocking upset eight years ago when they won the gold medal.

The only other team that could possibly challenge Team USA for the gold medal in London is Spain. At Bodog.ca they followed the American's on the Olympic Basketball futures at 13/2.

Led by the Gasol brothers, Pau and Marc the Spanish team began the tournament with a relatively easy 97-81 win over China. Spain's roster also include NBA players Serge Ibaka and Jose Calderon as well as most of the best basketball players from the Spanish league.

Four years ago in Beijing USA and Spain met up in the gold medal game and Team USA recorded a 118-107 win.
