Heat vs Thunder NBA Finals Odds
June 12, 2012
The NBA Finals tips off Tuesday night with LeBron James and the Miami Heat set to clash with Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder in a battle of the super team versus the young guns.
The Heat may have been the NBA Championship favorites throughout most of their playoff run, but they're not the favorite in the Finals at William Hill. The Thunder will begin the series as a -165 favorite, while the Heat are a +145 underdog at William Hill.
The Thunder are on fire heading into the series following their win over the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference finals. Oklahoma City eliminated the Spurs with four straights win, but prior to that San Antonio was unbeaten in the postseason and had won 20 in a row overall.
Miami went the distance with Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals, with huge wins and huge performances from LeBron in Game 6 a Game 7 to knockoff the Celtics.
The series begins in Oklahoma City with the Thunder as a 4.5-point favorite. The Thunder have not lost at home in the postseason so far with a perfect 8-0 record SU and a 5-3 record ATS.
Miami has also fared better at home than on the road during their postseason run with a 4-4 record SU and ATS away from home in the playoffs.
The Thunder and Heat only met up twice during the regular season with each team picking up a win at home. At the Chesapeake Energy Arena in March the Thunder routed the Heat 103-87 as a 1.5-point favorite behind 28 points, nine rebounds and eight assists from Durant.
In the rematch in Miami in April the Heat recorded a 98-93 win as a 3-point favorite. LeBron delivered for Miami in the win with 34 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists.
Overall in the last 10 matchups between the Heat and the Thunder they've split the series 5-5 SU, while Oklahoma City is 6-4 ATS. They've split the last 10 at Oklahoma City 5-5 SU, while the last 10 matchups in Miami have also been split evenly at 5-5 SU.
If you want to be on the NBA Finals MVP at William Hill there likely only two choices worth your money. Unless something drastic or dramatic happens in the finals the MVP is going to go to either Durant or James.
At William Hill, the oddsmakers have listed Durant as their MVP favorite at +100, followed by James at +130. Other notable on the MVP props odds include Dwyane Wade at +1000, Russell Westbrook at +1000 and Chris Bosh at +3300.
